Join us for an Access All Areas event on Monday 8 June from 10:30 to 14:30 at Production Park in Wakefield. This will be a comprehensive introduction to CoSTAR Live Lab's team, facilities and expertise, as well as an exciting talk from virtual production expert, Jack Darford. Through a combination of tours, talks and networking, we hope to showcase what CoSTAR is all about and, crucially, how we can support you and your organisation.

CoSTAR Live Lab is an innovative R&D facility based at Production Park near Wakefield. Live Lab is part of the £75m government-funded CoSTAR Network, and supports innovation in immersive, multisensory and interactive technologies to transform audience experience, shaping next-generation live experiences for screen, stage and into the metaverse.

Based in London, Jack Dartford has worked on a wide and diverse range of projects, from productions such as Barbie, Megalopolis, House of the Dragon and Hijack, to music videos such as Live Again for the Chemical Brothers, and a variety of commercials, filling roles from operator to supervisor. Much of Jack's work involves creating bespoke tools that allow for unique workflows such as, but not limited to, integration with large-scale lighting systems and other data sources for dynamic real-time content. This is not limited only to film and television production, but also to his work on live events such as the League of Legends World Championship, Coachella and Karate Combat.

Furthering his passion for production, Jack debuted his first immersive art installation in 2023, titled MONOLITH, for Mental Health Awareness Week. This creation seamlessly blends hardware and software to dynamically visualize a representation of anxiety, reacting in real-time to the presence of those nearby. Jack's knowledge and experience in blending technology and creative storytelling underscore him as a valuable contributor to discussions about the future of media and entertainment.

Event timings:

This is a hybrid event and, as such, we advise that those joining us online log onto the zoom link in time for Jack’s talk, which will take place between 1-2pm. If you’re joining us in person, we ask that you arrive for the event by 10:30 am, to allow us time to greet you and guide you to our Live Lab facility. The main programme will be finished by 2:30 pm, but there will be an optional chance to network and have follow-up conversations with our team and other attendees in the CentR Stage Cafe afterwards. This will be an excellent opportunity to engage with our speakers, fellow attendees and to meet the CoSTAR Live Lab team.
